UIC Computer Design Research & Learning Center
From concept through completion, DWA collaborated with the design and construction teams to integrate an efficient structure for this addition wrapping the existing 1960’s engineering building.
Steel structures the fluid geometry – providing varied floors and open spaces for innovative teaching and supporting a faceted precast concrete façade in homage to the brutalist architecture of the campus. At its base, the structure spans over an existing tunnel and integrates a partial footprint basement for mechanical services.
